What makes resin different
A resin bound surface is made of stones bonded together with a clear UV-stable resin. The surface is smooth, porous and reasonably tough — but the resin can be damaged by overly aggressive pressure washing or by harsh chemicals. Used the wrong way, a powerful jet wash can lift the loose stones, scour the binder and leave bare patches.
Our resin cleaning approach
For resin we use a low-pressure wash with a wide-fan nozzle, often combined with a soft-bristle brush for stubborn dirt. Where biological growth has started we use a biocide that is safe with resin binders and let it do most of the work. The aim is to lift dirt and algae without disturbing the surface itself.
Common issues with resin drives
The most common issues we see are surface algae in shaded areas, leaf staining where leaves have been left to break down, and the occasional patch where the resin has lifted because of underlying movement. We can clean the first two. The third is a job for the original installer.
